Total Turmeric Takeover

Turmeric may sound like a foreign language to those who do not spend much time in the kitchen, but nearly every person has consumed it a time or two.

Turmeric is that spice in curry dishes that adds plenty of flavor and promises to turn your entree orange. But, the flavor and color are by far the least important factors of why you should add turmeric into your diet.

Turmeric is a powerful antioxidant and has wonderful anti-inflammatory properties due to its main active ingredient- curcumin.

Why are anti-inflammatory properties beneficial to you?

Chronic inflammation (meaning it is a long-term condition) is thought to play a role in nearly every Western disease. Such diseases include, Alzheimers, heart disease and cancer. Root causes are believed to be traced back to inflammation. Luckily, there are preventive measures for chronic inflammation, other than the pill-poppin cure we see in western civilization. Curcumin has such powerful anti-inflammatory properties that it goes head to head against some of the top pharmaceutical anti-inflammatory drugs. So would you rather be prescribed a pill that is full of ingredients you cannot pronounce OR start adding turmeric into your everyday diet?

Along with countless other benefits, curcumin is an antioxidant. We all hear the word “antioxidant”  thrown out in advertisement for health products or read it on the front of food lables, but what does it really mean? Well to sum it up-
